Studio Open House

Studio Open House

Let's talk about my studio for just a quick minute. After years of working in a room by myself, I find myself with 2 studios both of which are shared. As landlords and insurance companies are not too fond of playing with fire, it is hard to find a place to do my torch work. I use a cooperative glass studio (beadfx.com) for my torch time. I get to be around people who talk glass although I'm usually the only one there as I use it in the day time.
My second studio is my assembly space/office. I share this with 5 visual artists and I love it. It is fantastic to bounce ideas around and we all approach the business side of creativity in such different ways.
My space at Studio 102 is very small and efficient. After years of having a lot of space and filling it with god knows what, I spent time decluttering and streamlining. It feels SO much lighter. It is however, a working studio not a showroom. So my jewelry is on its display boards but those are in a bin and not in a display case.
Here's an idea, why don't I show you instead of just writing about it? In fact, why don't you come and see? I can put everything out on display so we can both see it.
The other truly amazing thing about Studio 102 is that in the same building, in Studio 105, there is glass heaven, the Sandra Ainsley Gallery. Sandra Ainsley Gallery is one of North America's leading contemporary glass galleries. The gallery represents over 60 artists, including world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly.
This gallery is celebrating her 40th anniversary with an open house on September 21st.
Guess when my open house is?
